Description :-

Pakhala is a traditional Odia dish, it is prepared with rice, curd, cucumber, cumin seeds, fried onions and mint leaves. It is popularly served with dry roasted vegetables - such as potato, brinjal, badi and saga bhaja or fried fish. 

Ingredients :-

  1. 1 cup cooked rice
  2. 2 cup water 
  3. 4 tbsp curd
  4. Salt to taste
  5. 1 tbsp oil
  6. 1/2 tbsp panchphoran
  7. 1 pinch asaefotida
  8. 7 - 8 curry leaves 
  9. To whole dry chilli


Directions :-

  1. Wash and cook rice in a vessel.
  2. Wash all greens and keep ready.
  3. Take rice in a bowl.
  4. Add water to it.
  5. Add curd and mix well.
  6. Add chopped coriander.
  7. In a tadka pan add oil. Once hot add panchforan and red chillies. Add asafoetida and curry leaves and add this tadka to rice.
  8. Pakhala is ready .
  9. Serve it with dry roasted vegetables (bhaja) or fried fish.
  10. Enjoy.
